Mojang has rolled out snapshot 24w38a for Minecraft Java Edition, introducing a mix of experimental features, quality-of-life changes, and a long-awaited addition to Realms: Hardcore mode.
Experimental Features: Bundles Get a Colorful Makeover
Bundles, a feature many players have eagerly awaited, are now more customizable than ever. In snapshot 24w38a, Bundles can be dyed in 16 different colors using Dyes, allowing players to organize and color-code their items with ease.
Changes and Tweaks
Several key improvements are included in this snapshot:
- Shulker Box Recipes: Coloring Shulker Boxes is now more user-friendly, as dye recipes for them are automatically displayed in the recipe book.
- Inventory Management: Players in Creative mode will notice that throwing items out of their inventory rapidly is now throttled to prevent server strain and accidental item dumps.
- World Creation for Realms: The world creation interface for Realms has been updated to match the standard world creation screen, giving players more control and a familiar interface.
Realms: Hardcore Mode and Expanded Customization
Realms has received a significant upgrade in this snapshot. Players can now enjoy the full world creation screen with added options for game rules and datapack customization. Hardcore mode, previously unavailable in Realms, is now officially supported. This mode, which gives players only one life and ramps up difficulty, can be accessed by creating a new world or recreating an existing one in Realms.
