The first snapshot of Minecraft version 1.21.2, 24w33a, has arrived, offering players a glimpse into the future of the game with a host of experimental features. This snapshot reintroduces the much-anticipated Bundles feature, alongside significant changes to Redstone and Minecart mechanics.
Bundles Are Back
Originally introduced as an experimental feature in 2020, Bundles make their return in this snapshot. Bundles allow players to stack various items in a single inventory slot, helping to optimize space. To try out Bundles, players must enable the “Bundles” experiment when creating a new world. Crafting a Bundle is now more accessible, requiring just 1 String and 1 Leather. This update also brings a new submenu feature for selecting and retrieving items from Bundles, offering greater flexibility than before.
Redstone Experiments
Redstone enthusiasts will find new challenges with the Redstone Experiments toggle. This feature aims to optimize Redstone wire performance and update mechanics, with a focus on making Redstone behavior more predictable and consistent. However, some randomness in wire updates remains, adding a layer of complexity for advanced Redstone contraptions.
Minecart Improvements
For those who love traversing their worlds by rail, the Minecart Improvements experiment introduces smoother movement, better track articulation, and enhanced jumping mechanics. These changes are part of a broader effort to make Minecart travel a more viable option compared to other late-game transportation methods. However, these updates may impact existing Minecart-based contraptions, prompting players to rethink their designs.
Additional Changes
Snapshot 24w33a also includes various tweaks to item rarities, portal cooldowns, and several gameplay elements. Notably, Wolves can now be fed a wider range of fish, and Bees have improved navigation and behavior near their hives.
