Minecraft fans, the wait is over! Mojang has officially launched the first pre-release for Minecraft 1.21.2, dubbed the Bundles of Bravery drop. While major features are locked in, expect bug fixes and tweaks as we move toward a stable release. The start of the pre-release phase also means more frequent updates, so be sure to stay tuned for the next drop!
Experimental Features
The Winter Drop has brought an eerie new addition: the Creaking mob. This mysterious entity is turning heads with its peculiar mechanics:
- Creaking mobs will not activate or freeze when players are in Creative mode, making it easier for builders to observe without interference.
- Creaking mobs summoned by the Creaking Heart cannot be named with a Nametag, adding to the mystique of this new feature.
- A new block, the Creaking Heart, allows players to manipulate the Creaking’s behavior. Attaching a comparator to the Heart outputs a signal based on the Creaking’s proximity, providing some unique redstone possibilities.
Changes and Tweaks
In addition to these experimental features, Mojang has made some adjustments to the UI:
- Air bubbles have been updated with a more polished display. Players will notice a new empty state for air bubbles when submerged, as well as a subtle wobble effect when drowning.
- When air bubbles in the UI pop, a popping sound has been added to enhance immersion, making those underwater moments a bit more tense.
