This week’s snapshot takes a breather from major features to focus on community tools and polish. Snapshot 25w34a introduces server codes of conduct and gives our beloved Copper Golems their moment in the spotlight with a new main menu.
Server Codes of Conduct
The biggest addition for server operators is the new Code of Conduct system. Now when players join servers, administrators can display custom rules and guidelines that players must accept before playing.
Here’s how it works: Server owners add enable-code-of-conduct=true
to their server.properties file, then create text files for different languages in a “codeofconduct” folder. Players see the rules in their language (or English as fallback) and must check a box to proceed. Smart feature: if you’ve already accepted a server’s rules, you won’t see them again unless they change.
Copper Golems Get the Spotlight
The main menu panorama now showcases Copper Golems hanging out in a village setting. It’s a nice way to celebrate these helpful robots that have been stealing players’ hearts since their recent addition. The new background gives the game a more lively, community-focused feel.
Technical Tweaks
The rendering improvements from earlier snapshots now extend to block entities and items – basically making more things render smoother and faster. The developers are asking for bug reports since this is a big change under the hood.
End dimension light flashes got some adjustments too. The sound effect has a longer delay now, and the accessibility setting for hiding flashes has been renamed and expanded to cover both lightning and End flashes.
