Mojang has just rolled out Snapshot 25w20a, delivering the final features from this year’s second major content drop. With this release, players can now enjoy a much-requested gameplay tweak: craftable saddles. Additionally, a fresh wave of atmospheric music by composer Amos Roddy breathes new life into Minecraft’s soundscape.
Craftable and Removable Saddles
Saddles are no longer locked behind luck or dungeon chests—players can now craft them using 3 Leather and 1 Iron Ingot. The recipe unlocks once a player picks up their first piece of leather, making it more accessible early on.
Also new is the ability to remove saddles and other equipment (such as Horse Armor, Harnesses, and Carpets) using Shears. There are a few caveats:
-
Shears don’t work if the mob has a rider or if the player is crouching.
-
Saddles cannot be removed from Ravagers.
-
Dispensers with Shears do not work for removing equipment.
New Music and Music Disc
One of the highlights of this snapshot is the inclusion of the track “Tears”, added as a new music disc. Alongside it, five new background tracks—Below and Above, Broken Clocks, Fireflies, Lilypad, and O’s Piano—now play across various biomes, including Cherry Groves, Forests, Deserts, Groves, and Lush Caves. These tracks also join the menu rotation, creating a more immersive auditory experience.
A small but handy quality-of-life addition is also in place: the pause menu now shows the name of the currently playing track, letting players easily identify the ambient music around them.
Visual and UI Updates
The main screen panorama has also been updated, likely to reflect the ongoing changes in biomes and art direction tied to this year’s broader content updates.
