Minecraft’s latest snapshot, 25w06a, introduces exciting new features, including warm and cold Chicken variants, new desert vegetation, and changes to random tick mechanics.
Farm Animal Variants
Chickens now have three biome-based variants: Temperate (default), Warm, and Cold. Each type lays a unique egg—Blue Egg for cold Chickens, Brown Egg for warm Chickens, and the regular Egg for temperate Chickens. These changes align with previously introduced Cow and Pig variants.
New Desert Plants
Two new types of grass, Short Dry Grass and Tall Dry Grass, now grow in Deserts and Badlands. They can be composted, used as fuel, and even eaten by Sheep to regrow wool. Additionally, Cactus Flowers now bloom on Cactus blocks, offering a chance to grow instead of cactus height increasing. They can be composted or crafted into Pink Dye.
Gameplay Changes
- Expanded Random Tick Radius: Blocks loaded by Ender Pearls, spawn chunks, or other sources now receive random ticks beyond the usual 8-chunk radius, allowing crops to grow and ice to melt even when players aren’t nearby.
- Fire Spread Adjustments: Fire will only burn or spread within 8 chunks of a player.
- Compact Tooltips: Fireworks and Crossbows now display a more concise tooltip for stacked effects.
This snapshot enhances biome immersion and farming mechanics while refining gameplay balance. Stay tuned for more updates as Minecraft 1.21 development progresses!
