Rats mod, as the name implies, adds to the Minecraft new mobs – wild rats, wich may be tamed. But unlike most other additions, it does not just spawn next animals with the new model. The behavior of rats is very detailed and close to reality, and players will now have many new problems and opportunities associated with this smart rodents.
After installing the mod, wild rats will spawn in the world. They go out at night and are pretty shy. As in real life, these rodents will steal food and gnaw at wooden blocks. The fence will not become protection against them, thanks to the small size of the rat easily run through it. To protect against them, you will have to build stone houses and warehouses or craft traps.
A rat can be not only a pest, but also a true friend. Cheese will help you to tame it. You can cook it in a boiler by right-clicking on it with a bucket of milk in your hands. Cheese is edible for the player, however, its main value lies precisely in the possibility of taming the rat. This is a little harder to do than with other animals in Minecraft. First you need to drive it into a corner, and then throw pieces of cheese next to it. With each portion eaten, the rodent will increasingly trust the player, and after 10-15 pieces will become completely manual.
You can interact with a tamed rat by right-clicking on it. After that, her inventory will open, with which you can give commands and even put on a pet a miniature helmet, which will give him additional protection. Also here you can find out basic information about the rat, for example, its gender. Using the menu, the following commands are given:
- follow the player;
- sit still;
- transfer items from one chest to another;
- search for useful items in the nearest area;
- attack enemies.
If you click on the rat with the right mouse button while holding Shift, then it will climb onto your shoulder.
Rats can also be bred and get new colors. To do this, you need to build a cage and put in it two rodents. They will randomly inherit the colors of their parents and their combinations. You can find out the recipe for cells, cheese and other items from the mod through JEI.
How to install Rats mod
- Make sure you have installed Minecraft Forge.
- Download and install the Llibrary library.
- Download the mod for your version of the game.
- Put it in the ‘mods’ folder, which is located in the game folder.
