Chunk In A Globe Mod

Chunk In A Globe began as a ModFest entry by modmuss50 in spring 2020: a small glass globe you place like any block, right-click, and step inside. Behind the glass is a full room of its own, and whatever you build in that room shows up as a miniature inside the globe in your base. It is a Fabric mod for Java Edition, and the files on this page cover Minecraft 1.15.2 and 1.16.5.

How the globe works

Our old description said the mod shrinks your character. It does not. Right-clicking a globe teleports you into a separate dimension the mod adds, where every globe gets its own room: a cube of barrier blocks with 15 × 15 × 15 blocks of free space inside. You arrive standing on a second globe in the middle of the floor. Right-click that one to go back to the spot you came from.

Anything you place in the room appears in the globe outside, and so do animals and other mobs, which is where the tiny pigs in screenshots come from. The view also works in reverse: from inside you can see out. A few rules keep the trick from breaking:

• The barrier walls and the exit globe cannot be broken from inside, and explosions leave the exit globe alone.
• You cannot place a globe inside a globe room; the game answers that you cannot bend the space time continuum any more.
• Breaking a globe in your base drops it as an item that remembers its room, so you can move a finished diorama without losing it.

Crafting a globe

The recipe needs a full crafting table. Put glass in all three top slots and in the left and right slots of the middle row, leave the centre empty, and fill the bottom row with three of the same block. That block becomes the globe’s stand.

Many blocks qualify as a base: any logs, planks, wool or stone bricks, plain stone and cobblestone, granite, diorite and andesite, dirt, grass and podzol, the common ores, iron, gold, diamond, emerald, lapis, redstone, coal and quartz blocks, obsidian, snow, clay, netherrack, soul sand, glowstone, end stone and even a crafting table. Pick the stand to match the room you plan: a glowstone stand for a Nether scene, planks for a cottage.

Performance, and what it is good for

The author states plainly that the mod was not optimised. It may drop FPS on weaker computers and lag servers with many players. Each globe re-reads its room and the mobs in it all the time, and the room’s chunk stays loaded while a player is near the globe. A handful of globes in a base is fine; a hall of fifty is asking for trouble. If you are already short on frames, read our FPS guide first.

Good uses are small and visual: a trophy shelf of tiny builds, a model of your castle on the table inside the castle, or a hidden storage room that only you know how to enter. Players who prefer planning large builds full size usually reach for WorldEdit instead. Install and versions

You need Fabric Loader and Fabric API; the mod’s metadata lists Fabric API as a dependency. Drop the jar for 1.15.2 or 1.16.5 into the mods folder and look for the Globes tab in the creative inventory to confirm it loaded. Version 1.1.0 for 1.16.5, from May 2021, is the last release by modmuss50. A separate unofficial fork by the Nova Committee carries the mod to 1.20.1 on Fabric; we do not host that fork.

Questions players ask

Is there a Chunk In A Globe mod for Bedrock or Minecraft PE?

No. The mod exists only for Java Edition on Fabric, and a .jar file cannot be loaded by Bedrock on phones, consoles or Windows. We found no Bedrock port from the author. An add-on with a similar name on a Bedrock site would be somebody else’s work, not this mod.

Is this the same as Chunk Animator?

No. Chunk Animator only changes how chunks appear while the world loads, sliding them into place. It adds no blocks and nothing you can enter.
