Mojang Studios has dropped a playful April Fools’ Day surprise with the Craft Mine snapshot for Java Edition. This limited-time update turns Minecraft into a roguelite adventure, letting players craft custom mines packed with challenges and rewards. Here’s a quick look at the main features and how to use them.
Main Features
- Mine Crafter Block: The star of the update, this block lets you create unique mines. Interact with it, pick your resources, and it generates a mine with varying difficulty—perfect for tailoring your adventure.
- Eye of Exit: Lost in the mines? Craft this handy item with one iron and eight copper. It points to the exit portal, but watch out—using it damages you unless upgraded.
- Special Events: Nine thrilling challenges, like fighting Wardens or braving icy islands, spice up gameplay. Complete them for rare rewards and new abilities.
- No Nether or End: Traditional dimensions are gone, putting the spotlight on these new mine worlds.
How to Use It
To jump in, open the Minecraft Launcher (Java Edition only), head to Installations, enable snapshots, and select “25w14craftmine.” Back up your worlds first—this is an experimental feature!
Using the New Features:
- Mine Crafter Block: Right-click the block to open its interface. Pick your resources to generate a custom mine—the difficulty depends on your choices.
- Eye of Exit: Craft it with one iron ingot and eight copper ingots. Hold it, right-click to find the exit portal, but note it damages you unless upgraded.
- Special Events: Look for shimmering doors in the mines. Unlock them with Shimmering Keys (earned from past challenges) to access unique reward-based challenges.
Short-lived but sweet, Craft Mine offers a fresh twist on Minecraft. Craft your mines and explore before it’s gone!
